Due to a backlog of communications requests as a result of new legislation being passed and other major DHS initiatives moving forward at this time, this training might not be published for several months, but the draft is complete.
Discussion
Annual goals
· Provide resources and guidance for improving communication skills. This document was updated as discussed during the last committee meeting, but again, due to the backlog of communications requests, this document will not be published for several months. · Simplify and organize online DHS materials and training resources related to positive supports or intervention services. This project is on hold until someone is hired to replace Stacie Enders’ previous position. · Explore ways to improve access to positive support services. This project is moving along as planned. DHS is starting to draft language for the new services and is aiming to send recommendations to leadership by September. In the event an agreement cannot be reached on the new service design by that date, this project may need to be pushed to the 2027 legislative session. · Support efforts to improve the direct care workforce shortage.Stacie Enders will be working with internal and external partners to create a roadmap for the state to address the shortage. The new roadmap will cover multiple domains, such as:· Job satisfaction and workplace safety· Recruitment strategies· Reducing demand for in-person support professionals· Supporting families and unpaid caregivers· More time with people (and less time on paperwork).
