Purpose: To announce a policy change that married people who apply for the Alternative Care (AC) program are not required to have an asset assessment completed by a financial worker
Effective: Oct. 1, 2024

Asset assessment policy change for married people who apply for AC

As of Oct. 1, 2024, married people who apply for AC are not required to have an asset assessment completed by a financial worker.

Note: Financial workers must complete all pending asset assessments started before Oct. 1, 2024.

Actions for people who receive services

Married people must complete AC Program Client Disclosure Form, DHS-3548 annually or when they have financial changes.

Married people can request an asset assessment for planning purposes. For more information, refer to Minnesota Health Care Programs Eligibility Policy Manual – 2.4.2.1.1 Asset Assessment for Planning Purposes. To request an asset assessment, people should contact their lead agency.
