Technology for transition: Assistive technology across the lifespan
Join DHS and Minnesota’s System of Technology to Achieve Results (STAR) program for a three-part webinar series on how technology can help with all of life’s transitions.
Life changes bring new challenges and opportunities. This three-part series explores how assistive technology can support independence, safety, communication, employment, parenting, aging in place and community living through every stage of life. Attendees will learn about practical technology solutions, person-centered planning and support that adapts to changing needs.
Session 1: Building Independence: Transitioning into Adult Life
The transition from school services into adulthood can be exciting, overwhelming and uncertain. Learn how assistive technology can support young adults with disabilities in employment, college, independent living and community participation.

Session 2: Technology Through Life Changes: Parenting, Home and Community Transitions
Major life changes can happen at any age. Learn how assistive technology can support transitions related to parenting, caregiving, housing and changing support needs. This session includes real-world examples and lived experiences that highlight how technology can help people maintain autonomy, connection and community participation through life’s changes.

Session 3: Adapting Supports Over Time: Aging, Health Changes and Higher Support Needs
As people age or experience changes in health, cognition, mobility or disability, their support needs often change as well. Explore how assistive technology can support safety, independence, connection and quality of life over time.

This webinar series is hosted by the MN STAR program and their technology partners. STAR is Minnesota's free assistive technology program that helps all Minnesotans in all stages of life.
STAR is part of the Minnesota Department of Administration and is federally funded by the Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Community Living, in accordance with P.L. 117-263, Division E: 21st Century Assistive Technology Act (PDF). STAR's mission is to help all Minnesotans with disabilities gain access to and acquire the assistive technology they need to live, learn, work and play.
