IHS support and training updated guidance

DHS updated CBSM – IHS and CBSM – Resource: Service options for IHS to add additional guidance and resources related to IHS support and training.

We made the following updates:

  • · Clarified the differences between support and training.
  • · Added guidance related to IHS with training (including family training) and IHS without training.
  • · Added FAQs and examples to support service authorization decisions.
  • · Added information to help lead agencies determine the appropriate service mixes for people that live in their own home/family home.

    • We made these updates to help lead agencies, providers and people who receive services more consistently understand and use IHS services.

    Understanding support and training in IHS webinar

    DHS will hold a webinar for lead agencies about understanding support and training in IHS from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026. During the webinar, we will review the updated guidance and answer questions from lead agencies. For more information, refer to the July 14, 2026, webinar announcement.
