Open positions for the MnCHOICES Assessment Redesign Working Group

DHS is currently recruiting members for the MnCHOICES Assessment Redesign Working Group.

We are accepting applications for four commissioner-appointed positions in two membership categories. In addition, the working group will appoint representatives from counties, Tribal Nations, managed care organizations and the Minnesota Social Services Association (MSSA) through separate processes.

People, families and advocates

There are two open positions in the people, families and advocates membership category, including one aging representative and one disability representative. Applicants in this category must:

  • · Have lived experience with disabilities and waiver services or be a family member or advocate of a person with lived experience.
  • · Be able to provide system-level feedback to shape the state-level transition.
  • Disability advocacy groups

    There are two open positions in the disability advocacy groups membership category. Applicants in this category must be:

  • · An advocate within the disability community.
  • · Able to provide system-level feedback to shape the state-level transition.

    Background information

    The 2026 Minnesota Legislature established the MnCHOICES Assessment Redesign Working Group. The group’s primary task is to outline recommendations on how to transition responsibility for conducting MnCHOICES assessments from lead agencies to state assessors. DHS must share the group’s final recommendations with the legislature by Sept. 1, 2027.
