Overview | The following family caregiver services are available under the Alternative Care (AC), Essential Community Supports (ECS) and Elderly Waiver (EW) programs: Informal caregivers may receive these services if they provide direct and ongoing care and support to people on AC, ECS or EW. For more information, refer to the service-specific pages. | ||
Definition | Caregiver: For purposes of these services, "caregiver" means a person who lives with or routinely provides care to the person receiving services. A caregiver may include: A caregiver who volunteers or is employed through an organization that cares for the person cannot receive reimbursement for training and counseling activities that are the responsibility of their employer. Family foster careA family foster care provider cannot be paid to provide foster care to a relative unless the lead agency certifies the adult foster care per the hardship provisions defined in Minn. Stat. §256B.0919, subd. 3. If a person on AC or EW lives in the family foster care home of a relative who is not paid to provide foster care to the person, the relative is considered an informal caregiver. They may receive family caregiver services through AC or EW. | ||
