Payments end for COVID-19 customized living rate add-on

After Sept. 30, 2021, DHS will no longer search for new or adjusted fee-for-service claims from providers that are part of the customized living rate add-on payment program outlined in Bulletin #20-25-02 (PDF). After this date, DHS will make a final round of add-on payments on any eligible claim submitted before the deadline. DHS will not consider new program applications from providers.

MCOs

DHS has informed managed care organizations (MCOs) it will end payments for this program. Individual MCOs will develop their own add-on payment deadline for services they coordinate.

Background

DHS originally published Bulletin #20-25-02 (PDF) on May 19, 2020, to give information about a temporary rate add-on for customized living services delivered to people who use the Elderly Waiver (EW), Community Access for Disability Inclusion (CADI) Waiver and Brain Injury (BI) Waiver and who live in a setting that has been determined by the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) to have at least one case of COVID-19.

The bulletin was modified twice:

  • 1. Extended the cutoff for eligible service dates to July 31, 2020
  • 2. Extended the program application deadline to Sept. 30, 2020.
