Purpose: To announce that DHS conducted a lead agency business process review with 16 lead agencies, including one tribal nation, and provided recommendations

Lead agency business process review and recommendations reports

DHS reviewed both state and lead agency processes related to MnCHOICES eligibility determination, assessment and support planning. DHS conducted this business process review to:

· Identify efficiencies in lead agency workflows.

· Increase capacity and improve workflows for lead agencies.

We published the results of the business process review at Long-Term Services and Supports Business Process Review Recommendations, DHS-8551-ENG (PDF).

Business process review details

DHS conducted a business process review with 16 lead agencies, including one tribal nation. As part of the study, DHS completed on-site visits with each lead agency that included:

· Staff shadow experience.

· Staff interviews.

· Focus groups.

· Process mapping.

· Meetings with individuals and their families.

Lead agency recommendations

Following the on-site visits, DHS provided the 16 participating lead agencies with an individualized recommendations report that details:

· Opportunities for improvement.

· Processes that work well and could be a model for other agencies.

DHS encourages all lead agencies to review Long-Term Services and Supports Business Process Review Recommendations, DHS-8551-ENG (PDF) for a summary of the business process review. The report includes:

· Lead agency recommendations.

· DHS recommendations.

· Overall best practices for lead agencies.

· Opportunities for statewide improvements.
