New manual to support people who take psychotropic medications

DHS created the Psychotropic Medication Manual to help 245D-licensed service providers support people who take psychotropic medications. Other audiences also might find the manual helpful.

The new Psychotropic Medication Manual contains resources, tips and tools, including:

  • · A list of questions to ask a doctor at a psychotropic medication appointment.
  • · Person-centered tools to assess medication effectiveness.
  • · Guidance on 245D licensing requirements as they relate to supporting people who take psychotropic medications.
  • DHS does not require 245D-licensed service providers to use the new manual. All the tools in the new manual are optional since what helps one person might differ from what helps another person.
