Employment First dashboards updated

DHS published 2024 data on DHS – Employment First dashboards. The dashboard updates include employment information for people who either:

  • · Receive Medicaid home and community-based waiver services or mental health services.
  • · Participate in the Medical Assistance for Employed Persons with Disabilities (MA-EPD) program.
  • How the Employment First dashboards work

The Employment First dashboards currently use a proxy income measure to indicate employment status as follows:

  • · Monthly income of $600 or more suggests competitive, integrated employment.
  • · Monthly income of $599 or less suggests non-competitive or non-integrated employment.
  • DHS is working on a new dashboard that we expect to launch within the next year. The new dashboard will give more accurate, up-to-date information about jobs for people with disabilities.

    Background information

DHS uses the Employment First dashboards to track employment outcomes in Minnesota’s disability services system in support of Minnesota’s Employment First policy. This policy raises the expectation that all working age Minnesotans with disabilities:

  • · Can work.
  • · Want to work.
  • · Can achieve competitive, integrated employment.
  • · Will explore opportunities to work and earn a competitive wage before they receive other supports and services.
