Medicaid Matters communications toolkit

DHS created the Medicaid Matters communications toolkit to help lead agencies communicate about Medicaid cuts with people who receive services, the public or any interested audience. The Medicaid Matters communications toolkit includes:

· One-to-four-page summaries on many topics.

· Draft social media posts.

· Other useful communications content.

Background information on why Medicaid matters

Federal cuts to the Medicaid program will impact all lead agencies and, most importantly, people who receive services. Medicaid matters because:

· 140,000 Minnesotans will lose coverage according to the Congressional Budget Office.

· Low-income adults without children will experience the greatest impacts.

· Minnesota hospitals will lose about $1 billion per year because of provider tax changes.
