2025 HCBS employee-owned cooperative grants pilot program summary

DHS posted a summary of the HCBS employee-owned cooperative grants pilot program. To review the summary, refer to 2025 Summary of the HCBS Employee-Owned Cooperatives Grant Pilot Program and Recommendations for Similar Initiatives, DHS-8676A (PDF).

Background information

Over the past three years, DHS, the Minnesota Consortium of Community Developers (MCCD) and partners have helped HCBS direct care professionals create employee-owned cooperatives. DHS hopes to achieve the following goals through this initiative:

· Incentivize direct care professionals to stay in the profession long-term.

· Allow direct care professionals to experience more choice and control over their careers and work conditions.
