CFSS implementation updates

DHS began the transition from PCA and CSG to CFSS on Oct. 1, 2024. We will provide regular updates throughout the transition.

Forms and documents

DHS posted CFSS Assessment for 45-Day Temporary Increase, DHS-6893M, a new form lead agencies may use to complete an assessment for a 45-day temporary increase instead of DHS-6893A.

For a list of all forms and documents currently available, refer to CFSS Manual – Forms and documents.

MMIS instructions

DHS updated the instructions to finalize a 45-day temporary increase on DSD MMIS Reference Guide – 45-day temporary increase of PCA/CFSS services.

For details about all manual updates, refer to DSD MMIS Reference Guide.

MMIS system updates

DHS continues to test and fix bugs in MMIS. Counties/tribal nations can use Service Agreement and Screening Document (SASD) Support Team Portal, DHS 3754 to report issues to DHS.

PCA/CFSS worker training survey

DHS first announced updates to the PCA/CFSS worker training and test in an April 16, 2020, eList announcement. This announcement included the opportunity to provide feedback on the training via PCA/CFSS worker training survey. DHS will:

  • · Close the survey on Friday, Nov. 21, 2025.
  • · Use the survey feedback to complete the final version of the CFSS worker training.
  • · Post the new CFSS worker training when the transition from PCA/CSG to CFSS is complete.
  • Tools

DHS updated CFSS calculator Agency model and CFSS calculator Budget model to add:

  • · A check box for the Alternative Care (AC) program.
  • · Worker training and development and consultation services to the list of items the lead agency enters on the service authorization.
  • Reminders

DHS encourages lead agencies to review the processes for three different circumstances:

  • · Person not currently receiving PCA, CSG or CFSS services who needs to begin receiving CFSS services temporarily until the lead agency assessor can schedule and complete an in-person assessment: Lead agencies follow the instructions on CFSS Manual – 45-day temporary start of CFSS services (i.e., emergency start).
  • · Person using PCA/CSG services who needs additional time to complete the transition to CFSS and is not due for a reassessment: Lead agencies follow the instructions in the lead agency instructions for people who need additional time to complete the transition from PCA to CFSS section of CFSS ManualAssessment for PCA/CFSS services.
  • · Person using CFSS services at the time of their reassessment will not have an approved CFSS service delivery plan before the end of their current service plan year: To avoid a gap in services, lead agencies follow the instructions in the temporary approval section of CFSS Manual – CFSS service delivery plan development and approval process.
