8.35 Minnesota Paid Leave & Family Violence
ISSUE DATE: 02/2026
How to handle the overlap between the Minnesota (MN) Paid Leave exemption and the family violence waiver depends on timing.
If the participant already has a Family Violence Waiver and chooses to start the MN Paid Leave exemption: |
· Leave family violence plan in place. · Notify the eligibility worker that the participant has chosen the MN Paid Leave exemption and to leave the family violence waiver in place. · Set the review date as the date the exemption is expected to end. · Explain to the participant that MFIP support service dollars and MFIP child care are not available while they have the MN Paid Leave exemption. · Use the Holding – MN Paid Leave activity in Workforce One to indicate the participant is choosing the exemption.
