16.3 Child Care Assistance Sub-Programs

There are 4 Child Care Assistance sub-programs.

  • · MFIP, Transition Year (TY) and Transition Year Extension (TYE) are fully funded. There is no waiting list for eligible families.
  • · The Basic Sliding Fee (BSF) sub-program has a capped allocation. This means that a specific amount of money is allocated to each CCAP agency every calendar year. If funds are not available, eligible families are put on a waiting list.
  • Child Care Sub-Program

    Who It Covers

    MFIP child care.

    Participants receiving assistance through MFIP.

    Transition Year (TY) child care.

    Participants whose MFIP assistance ends and who:

  • · Received MFIP for at least 1 of the 6 months before their benefits ended.
  • · Received MFIP child care or applied for child care assistance within 12 months of MFIP ending.
  • Transition Year Extension (TYE) child care

    Participants who received 12 months of Transition Year child care and continue to be eligible for CCAP but cannot move into Basic Sliding Fee child care because there are no funds available. Families on TYE are added to the Basic Sliding Fee waitlist.

    Basic Sliding Fee (BSF) child care.

    Families who:

  • Are not currently receiving MFIP and have not received MFIP in the last 12 months.

  • Some counties and Tribal Nations have waiting lists. The waiting list can be located on the DCYF CCAP webpage.
